Her Imperial Highness Princess Akishino of Japan joins GCTA session on TB Stigma and interacts with TB survivors at The Union Conference 2018.

‘A Practical Guide in Dealing with Stigma – Learning from Conversations of Resilience’ in the community space (De Ontmoeting 2) at The Union Conference 2018, The Hague

Our book ‘Women and Stigma – Conversations of Resilience in the War Against TB’ that was launched at the UN Civil Society Hearing in June highlighted the TB stigma experiences of women across the globe.

An all-women panel with speakers who were TB survivors and women who are working to develop stigma measurement tools spoke passionately about their experiences, followed by a very interesting discussion. TB survivors Prabha Mahesh and Ingrid Schoeman spoke movingly about their experience through TB stigma, particularly self-stigma.

We were honoured to have HIH Princess Akishino attend the full session and interact with the women after the session.

The meeting space was filled to the brim and overflowing with eager members of the community wanting to participate in the discussions.
